Scramble is a UK based company founded in 2009 and has grown to be one of the prominent brands associated to BJJ and MMA. My first experience of Scramble products was when my partner, Deb, bought a used white Scramble Athlete Gi. I was very impressed with the fit, style and quality of fabric. Sometime later I noticed an advertisement in Jiu-Jitsu Style magazine for their upcoming release of a black edition of the Athlete Gi.
After checking their website I realised that I had missed the pre-order date. I emailed them, asking if there was any chance of adding my name to the pre-order list and got speedy, friendly reply that was very helpful. Needless to say, I got the Gi shortly after it had arrived from their supplier (as promised) and was very pleased with it. The cost of the Gi was £100. Compared with most of my other Gi’s this was in another league entirely. The first main difference was the fit – a more tailored style. The detailing on the gi is very nice – quality embroidered logo’s and contrasting stitching, smart patches on the trousers and a decent cord with 4 loops for flexible tying.
I’ve had this gi for several months now and wear it regular and I am very impressed that the black colour is still holding well. It’s a common problem with black gi’s that they fade rather quickly. There has been a small degree of shrinking, but nothing excessive.
To sum up, although there are decent cheaper Gi’s out there I recommend this Gi to anyone, with no hesitation at all. The service from Scramble itself was very good. The quality of the product is 1st rate. Since purchasing this gi I have bought a used Scramble Wave gi, which is also superb. I have also bought one of Scramble’s BJJ belts and their Strong Spirit T-shirt, which is excellent quality, from design to material and print quality – once again, definitely with the price. I am definitely of fan of the Scramble brand and will definitely purchase from them in the future.
